The NASEO ENERGY STAR Task Force will host the fourth installment of a five-part webinar series to educate State Energy Offices on the availability and benefits of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR Program. This webinar will showcase best practices that have worked for Kentucky to establish and maintain a robust state-wide K-12 school energy efficiency program using ENERGY STAR tools and resources.

What: Webinar: ENERGY STAR Tools for Statewide K-12 Efficiency Programs
When: Thursday, July 14th, 3:00pm – 4:00pm ET
Register: Here

This webinar will showcase the Kentucky School Energy Managers Program (SEMP) and its success to save Kentucky Schools Districts more than $68 million in cumulative avoided utility costs. The program was initiated through a partnership between the State Energy Office and Kentucky School Boards Association. SEMP has helped to certify 22 percent of all K-12 schools in the commonwealth as ENERGY STAR and the program’s long-term sustainability is supported by utility demand-side management programs.

Ron Willhite, Project Director, Kentucky School Boards Association, will present and address the following areas:

  • Overview of SEMP
  • How ENERGY STAR is integrated into the program
  • Best practices for implementing training and reporting
  • Integrating SEMP with utility demand-side management programs
  • Lessons learned from six years of success

The webinar series has been developed in conjunction and coordination with the NASEO ENERGY STAR Task Force. The Task Force, including charter State members, have held listening sessions to identify the needs of the State Energy Offices and establish the direction of the Task Force. The next schedule Task Force listening session is on July 21, 2016 at 4:00pm.

In addition, NASEO has recently updated a series of ENERGY STAR infographics for 2nd quarter, 2016, identifying the number of ENERGY STAR Schools by state and region to include 2016 data.  State-level infographics and one-pagers are available.
