Description: While the most time spent in rating a home is in defining energy loads through modeling envelope assemblies and conducting performance testing, the reality is that energy consumption is the prior driver of the HERS index. As such, modeling mechanical system efficiency consistently is critically important. While modeling standard split AC/furnace systems is fairly straightforward, there are still important nuances to getting these items correct. Furthermore, more advanced mechanical systems, such as common systems in multifamily buildings and inverter-based heat pumps require more diligence to ensure efficiencies are being appropriately defined. This webinar seeks to create a consistent guide for raters to use in modeling mechanical systems for all system types.
