Equity and Energy Security Education Webinar Series - Considerations Unique to Underserved Communities: Leadership Commitment, Stakeholder Engagement, Partnership Development, Metrics and Measurement

July 26, 2022, 2:00 - 3:30 PM ET

This webinar is the second in the Equity and Energy Security Webinar Series, designed to offer strategies, methods, case studies, and approaches to educate State Energy Offices on how best to engage with and ensure that the energy security needs of underrepresented, disadvantaged, and underserved communities are meaningfully considered and addressed in State Energy Office planning and activities. Webinar topics were selected based on feedback from the kickoff webinar and responses to the follow-up survey.

This webinar will highlight the Pioneering Energy Equity Partnership, anchored at the historic Atlanta University Center and home to the world’s oldest and largest association of historically black colleges and universities.

The discussion will:

  • Provide examples of collaboration with local stakeholders to build energy equity and community resiliency
  • Emphasize the importance of leadership commitment, cultivating innovative partnerships, meaningful community and stakeholder engagement, and community-based science and measures in project development

Participants will gain an increased awareness of equity considerations and variables unique to needs of underrepresented groups to inform state energy security planning and decision making. This webinar is designed to be interactive, and states are encouraged to submit specific questions/topics relevant to webinar description focus areas. Staff with responsibilities for Energy Security Planning, Stakeholder Engagement, and Partnerships are encouraged to attend.
