NASEO is hosting two trainings, led by Grid Strategies, that provide a primer on transmission planning and the changes introduced by FERC Order No. 1920. Separate sessions are offered for states within and outside of RTO/ISO regions. This session for states outside of RTO/ISO regions, scheduled for Wednesday, December 2, 2026, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM ET, will include a high-level overview of the transmission planning process, a deep dive into applying benefit-cost analysis to transmission, opportunities to incorporate advanced transmission technologies into planning, and the relationship between state-regulated utilities and transmission planning organizations. Presenters will also discuss how State and Territory Energy Offices can engage in and influence transmission planning. States are encouraged to attend the session that best fits their regional structure.
