Susan Brodie will highlight the economic, operational, risk reduction and environmental benefits of combined heat and power (CHP) systems in food processing, breweries, hospitals/healthcare facilities, and universities. CHP systems can improve electric service reliability and power resiliency, reduce costs associated with purchased fuel and electricity, and diminish business, safety and health risks associated with power supply interruptions. Environmental benefits include improved carbon footprint, lower overall criteria air pollutants and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and renewable energy credit creation. Learn about how these systems can improve your facilities as well as state and federal incentives, financing options, ownership structures and free resources offered by the Colorado Energy Office to support development of CHP in Colorado.

Bio: Susan Brodie runs the Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and Recycled Energy Outreach Initiative for the Colorado Energy Office, is Executive Director of the Heat is Power Association, and is an independent energy and environmental consultant in Littleton. In prior roles, Susan developed EHS management systems, led compliance programs and conducted EHS audits at GE; tracked EHS performance and analyzed energy policy and regulations at Conoco; and contributed to environmental impact statements and permitting efforts. She holds a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Environmental Management from Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
