NASEO State Appliance Standards Efficiency Webinar

January 22, 2020, 3:00 - 4:00 PM ET

On Thursday, January 22, 2020 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm ET, NASEO, in collaboration with the Appliance Standard Awareness Project (ASAP), presented a webinar on state-level appliance energy and water efficiency standards.

In 2018 and 2019, six states (California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Vermont, and Washington) adopted appliance efficiency standards and nearly a dozen additional states are pursuing standards in 2020. In this webinar, you will hear about one of the most effective energy- and water-saving policies that many people have not fully considered. Appliance standards are also starting to be used to help moderate peak loads in support of the electric grid.

ASAP will provide an overview of how state efficiency standards work and their impacts. This will be followed by information about a 2020 standards package and a path for states interested in pursuing such standards. State energy officials will discuss lessons learned from their efforts to adopt standards, including a representative from Washington’s State Energy Office who will speak about the state’s recently adopted grid-ready water heater standard. Discussion and Q&A will follow.
