Please join us in this virtual session as we convene representatives from exchange operators, CME Group and Intercontinental Exchange, and provider of price information and market analysis, Argus Media, to discuss development of new benchmarks as well as efforts to facilitate price discovery on new patterns of exports and trade.

Ed Morse, Chair of the Energy Forum Advisory Board and Managing Director and Global Head of Commodity Research at Citigroup, will moderate the discussion.

SPEAKERS 

Peter Keavey

Peter Keavey serves as Managing Director, Global Head of Energy Products at CME Group. He is responsible for managing CME Group’s existing suite of energy products, including crude oil, refined products, natural gas, power, natural gas liquids, coal and renewables. In his current role, Keavey also works closely with customers to lead development and execution of new risk management tools for the energy industry. Keavey has more than 29 years of experience in the futures and options industry, including 15 years as a trader of physical and financial Energy products across the natural gas and crude oil and refined product markets.

Prior to joining CME Group in 2013, Keavey was a Portfolio Manager at Graham Capital Management focusing on energy markets. He served as Managing Director and Head of Energy Trading at Scotia Capital from 2008-2011, and has held various commodity trading positions for Enron Corporation, Societe Generale and Lehman Brothers.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business.

Euan Craik

Euan Craik is Global Head of Crude Oil at Argus, based in Houston. Euan oversees Argus’ refined products and petrochemicals services, drawing on over 20 years’ experience at Argus. He has been Chief Executive Officer, Americas, since 2006 and has overseen the rapid growth in Argus’ western hemisphere business. During Euan’s time in Houston, Argus has become the standard for pricing physical crude oil in the US, and has a growing presence in the refined oil products markets. Prior to his move to the US, Euan held senior managerial roles in London and Moscow, giving him a uniquely global insight into the markets that Argus serves.

Mike Wittner

Mike Wittner is Head of Oil Market Research for Intercontinental Exchange. Mike joined ICE in 2019. He leads a robust research effort to continuously analyze and anticipate changes in oil market structure and fundamentals. Mike and his team support oil sales and business development at ICE in creating new contracts and evolving existing contracts, in order to meet the hedging, trading, and investment needs of its customers around the world.

With more than 25 years of experience in oil market analysis and, before that, 8 years of experience in the geosciences, Mike has extensive knowledge of the global and regional crude oil and refined product markets, geopolitics, and non-fundamental oil market drivers. From 2007-2019, Mike was the Global Head of Oil Research for Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking, where he was a Managing Director.  He was directly responsible for short-term and long-term global oil market analysis and forecasting.  Mike was ranked in the top 4 for oil market research in 2009-2019, according to Risk and Energy Risk magazines, including 7 consecutive years at #1 in 2013-2019.  Before that, he held a similar position at Crédit Agricole, as well as senior analytical roles at Koch Supply & Trading, the International Energy Agency, and PIRA Energy Group (now part of S&P Global Platts).  Before getting his MBA, Mike worked as a geologist and project manager for an engineering firm and as an analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency.

Mike holds a BS in Geology from Cornell University and a MBA in International Business from George Washington University.

Edward Morse

Edward L. Morse is Chair, Energy Forum Advisory Board and Managing Director and Global Head of Commodity Research, Citigroup. Ed Morse built the Commodities Research team at Citi, which he has headed since 2011, having previously built similar groups both at Lehman Brothers and Credit Suisse, covering the full panoply of financially traded commodities. He brings to his analysis a unique breadth of experience extending from academia and think tanks to government, business, consulting and publishing. He has taught at Princeton, Columbia and Johns Hopkins universities, worked as a Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, and he served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Policy in both the Carter and Reagan Administrations. He was in management at Phillips Petroleum Co., a co-founder of PFC Energy, a former publisher of "Petroleum Intelligence Weekly" and President of Energy Intelligence Group. He also worked at Hess Energy Trading Company. Among his consulting experiences has been designing Yemen's oil pricing policy and assisting in the negotiations of its initial export contracts as well as helping the UN Security Council design the Oil-for-Food Program for Iraq and assisting in its negotiations with Baghdad to achieve its agreement.

Ed Morse has frequently written Op-Ed and guest editorials for The Financial Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post and often appears as a commentator for Bloomberg TV, CNBC, PBS and other media outlets. The author or co-author of numerous books and articles on energy, commodities and international affairs, he is a member of the Advisory Board for the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University as well as of the Advisory Council of the Transregional Institute at Princeton University, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Arabia Foundation. He is a Senior Fellow of both the USAEE and the IEEJ and in 2018 was named by Petroleum Economist in its inaugural “Global Energy Elite” issue as among the ten most prominent individuals in energy banking and finance.

Dr. Morse earned his doctorate in politics at Princeton University and his master’s degree at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
