NASEO Wildfire Forum Webinar Series: Legislation and Policy Diffusion

February 24, 2026, 1:30 - 3:00 PM ET

NASEO, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (DOE CESER), is hosting quarterly wildfire forums for State and Territory Energy Offices and State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (SLTT) partners.

These forums will feature presentations from subject matter experts and discussions with states to explore best practices and guidance with those facing emerging wildfire threats. The forums will enable State Energy Offices to proactively address wildfire risks, develop response capabilities, and engage partners for collective preparedness.

The fourth and final webinar in the series will recap wildfire-related legislation across the country. Speakers will explore the policy diffusion between states, particularly the west-to-east trends, and how legislation has driven the development of comprehensive, statewide approaches to prepare for, respond to, and recover from wildfires. The webinar will also showcase how states can leverage best practices to inform planning and decision-making in their own jurisdictions.
